TrueContext, the mobile forms and field workflow platform, has published a customer case study on how ACT Power Services uses its software to capture better field data and move faster from the site to the report.

What ACT built

ACT already ran a CMMS and work order system, but it was not built for the data capture modern field service needs. ACT built a customized solution on TrueContext that connects to that system and extends it to work orders, asset records, maintenance logs and real-time tracking. Preventive and corrective maintenance forms guide technicians through each procedure and trigger follow-up work orders when something needs attention.

Where it is used

The same approach now covers job hazard analyses, check-ins, PV and battery inspections, fleet management and approvals. ACT also built a dissolved gas analysis workflow that shortens the path from transformer oil sample to remediation, and co-developed an aerial drone program with TrueContext. More than 100 forms are in use by more than 100 technicians every day.

Why it stuck

Reports go to each stakeholder in the format they need, including the CMMS and SharePoint. Chris Stevens, ACT’s Director of Process and System Integration, credits ease of use for the adoption: “If you can text, you can use TrueContext.”
